My morning routine is something that is still, like pretty much like everything else about me, a work in progress. In my never ending quest toward personal development, I have come to very clearly understand the benefits of having a mourning routine on building momentum toward your goals. My goals are massive for myself, my family, and my different businesses. I am not just working on physical fitness or weight loss, but holistic wellness. I want the whole package. The essential components of a good, solid morning routine vary slightly depending on the person sharing theirs. I encourage everyone to sample some things and narrow down what works for you. It is important to practice gratitude and move your body every day. Being a lifelong learner will serve you well. There are many things you can add into your morning routine and how you put them together is up to you. What I am working toward implementing is the following:
1. Wake early enough to complete everything before my day HAS to begin. Currently, I am setting that time as 6 AM. Others have argued that 5 AM is the best time, but I'm just not there yet.
2. Take time for quiet meditation and then contemplation about the day ahead.
3. Write in my journal to focus toward my goals and practice gratitude intentionally.
4. Read or listen to a podcast while I let my pre-workout magic "Go Juice" kick in.
5. Get a solid workout in. Moving my body daily helps me feel good and strong.
6. Review my calendar and complete a minimum of 30 minutes working on a project that moves me closer to my goals.
These simple practices help me start my day off strong and focused. I am prepared for the day and have started off by pouring into myself before the day ahead takes me in all sorts of directions. No one has the time or motivation to be on track all the time, that is why it is essential to build habits through practicing discipline to keep you moving toward your goals when the "I don't feel like it." moments kick in. Having a solid morning routine means you've knocked off some important items before you even head out for the day.
Now I know there will be some that say they don't have the time or they are already up early but can't make this work. Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but no one has the time and ultimately you are choosing to not make this work. Those are the facts. Tough, a little rude, but true. You get to choose how you spend your time and how you show up for your life. When you make excuses, you will not make progress. So instead of making more excuses and telling yourself all the reasons this won't work, how about you get real about what you want your life to look like and start working towards finding solutions to make that happen for you. I can support anyone that wants my help, but I cannot and would not do it for you. Only YOU can make the decision to change your life and only YOU can keep showing up for yourself every damn day.
